Easter Devotion 23

The Fridays of life can be so very dark, Lord. Thank You for the gift of Sunday.

Luke 24:5, As they were afraid and bowed their faces to the ground, they said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead?

The women who went in search of Jesus’ body that Sunday after the crucifixion were logical lookers. They were looking for a dead man, so logically they went to His tomb. But what they found was the stone rolled away and Christ’s body gone. They began to panic because they could not fathom where else Jesus’ body could be. But the tomb wasn’t the right place at all – because the Son of God was anything but dead. He had risen. He was and is alive.

When you set out to look for love or for purpose in your life, are you a logical looker or an off-the beaten-path looker? Have you ever found yourself looking in all the wrong places? We all have a desire to matter and to be a part of something bigger than ourselves. It’s a noble desire, but it is one that can never be fulfilled outside of Christ.

Regardless of where you’ve looked before, you can choose to begin looking to Christ to meet your every need. Be the kind of looker who knows where to search to find fulfillment for the void within. If you’re sad, lonely, or broken, take it to Jesus. Stop looking at the empty tombs in your life and, instead, seek the risen Savior.
